The Most Important Book I Read This Summer

If Coates’ book is a frying pan, your article is a sauce pan. Sorry, I’m fed up with being hit on the head by activists with any sort of pan. I compare what the facts are with what the claims are behind the cases being protested and rioted lately, and the only conclusion I can reach to explain the disparity is that there are two separate universes, each with their own truths and facts.

My take is that there are serious political and economic and social factors that lock the inner cities into their Gordian predicament, and it will take all of society to unite behind untying that knot. But if my cooperation requires me to accept the roles and labels assigned to me by activists in your universe, count me out.

You’re on your own. Have a nice life.
