Point taken; but there is a different option C that works, especially in a tight race: vote one party affiliation for president, and the other for congress. In other words, vote for gridlock. If one truly believes that the country is screwed with either nominee, then give that president the most difficult time possible getting his wishes done.
Historically, gridlock has been a good thing overall for the country. I would argue that the first two years of the Obama administration, with veto-proof majorities of his own party in congress, were disastrous for the country.
