The Iranians show us who they are every day, but our president doesn’t believe them, Maya Angelou notwithstanding. And neither did Hillary when she was working on the Iran nuclear deal.

In fact, Trump was asked an hypothetical question, if Congress passed a law to make abortion illegal, would Trump enforce the punishment. He said he would.

Obviously, it was a typical Chris Mathews gotcha question: the president does not enforce punishment on those who break the law, the courts do. If there were a federal law against abortion, which was what Mathews supposed, then the Constitution requires the president’s DOJ to enforce that law. The law would determine if the doctor and/or the woman is to be prosecuted; the president would have nothing to do with that decision. If it were the states that passed the law and not Congress, then the president would have nothing to do with it.

His was a completely irrational question out of nowhere, designed to trip up the candidate. That Trump did not see that, and was not equal to the task, just shows he is not ready for prime time, nothing more sinister than that.

As to this letter’s long list of “we need to…” tasks, clearly Hillary wants vastly more abortions. All those “safe, legal and rare” intention statements are just so much pablum for the ignorant.
