We love to invest in passionate entrepreneurs who are addressing a deep personal problem — the founders of HopSkipDrive solved their own problem.

They were three working mothers who, as busy, safety-focused parents, struggled to get their children to and from school and activities. In absence of finding a solution — they created one. In under a year, they not only built a safe, reliable transportation solution for themselves, but helped facilitate tens of thousands of rides for other families.

What’s more, the company has the highest safety standards in the business because it was designed with the founders’ own children in mind.

We could not be more pleased that FirstMark is leading HopSkipDrive’s Series A to bring that convenience and peace of mind to millions of families throughout the U.S.

I’m particularly delighted to continue working with Co-Founder and CEO Joanna McFarland, one of the most driven, motivated and tenacious founders I have ever encountered. It comes as no surprise that she and her co-founders have already been named among “10 of the Most Amazing Female Entrepreneurs in U.S. History.”

This investment also gives me the opportunity to work with my friends Greg Bettinelli at Upfront Ventures and Dana Settle at Greycroft, incredible investors and perfect partners for this Los Angeles-based deal.

The new funding will help HopSkipDrive grow its already stellar team (see their careers page here) and expand the service to new markets. I hope that you and your family will give it a try. FirstMark is certainly excited to be along for the ride.
