Coding “boot camps” perpetuate the idea that anybody can be a programmer. In reality programming requires some basic skills that not everyone possesses: mathematics, logic, and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time are just a few examples.

Kent University in the UK requires an aptitude test before enrolling in their programming stream. If you fail the test you are given the following tactful advice: “ You may wish to discuss your results with a careers adviser.”
