@EmmaTeamLYD the stress bucket. A personal anecdote

I’m reading Emma Tripletts book

Stepping out of the clouds

Chapter 8 talks of filling your stress bucket, and it is so true, before Emma and other influences highlighted my anxieties I would fill my stress bucket on a daily basis, but Emma describes how REM sleep sorts your stress bucket on a daily basis, which reminds me of a personal anecdote.

I was still in my first marriage, and my wife phoned me at work I’m pregnant, I was still processing that when she followed up “I’m going to have an abortion!”

My emotions took a battering, I didn’t know which way to turn, I went home had a row, had dinner and went to bed.

Until now I never understood the reason for this, but I woke up the following morning and said to my then wife, “ok I’m sorry, I’ll support you in whatever you decide to do!”

As I said until now I’ve never understood that change, but I guess my intellect cut in, rationalising what my amygdala, couldn’t cope with.

My amygdala would’ve been feeling it was being challenged, it had done it’s job in profligate get the species, but then what do you mean your not keeping it, aaaaaaaaaargggh

I continue to recommend @Oldtownhypnotherapy and @EmmaTeamLYD as without ever having met me, yet, she has really helped sort my head out, and fuel my interest in psychology
