Good thinking there Kelly. At our business we swap non aligned public holidays to a Monday or Friday so that the team can get a 3 day weekend. Although the opportunities are fewer, we also try to do the same for a four day weekend. That gives everyone time to have a proper break, but also allows us to undertake major maintenance tasks around the plant without disruption to workflow
If ppl want to get away on a scheduled 3 dayer, it’s a mad rush in traffic there and back along with thousands of others. No fun, too much stress. So our regular ‘swapped’ 3 dayers become ‘jobs around the home’ or ‘on the road when few others are’ — it’s a huge win for everyone
