Makaha Madness

It was early December in 1969 and the Makaha Beach Surfing Championship was creating a buzz all over Oahu. Many of the world’s best surfers were participating, including three-time Makaha champion, George Downing.

This annual event had inspired one special individual on my ship to formulate a scheme which was soon to envelope me in its churning machinations. As is often the case, I never saw it coming.
