My RBC Entrepreneurship Co-op Experience
For me, the co-op experience is all about doing a variety of tasks at multiple companies to develop a broad range of skills. Completing 3 co-op terms as a financial analyst at multiple organizations really helped me develop some great professional skills and provided me with invaluable insight into what career path is best suited for me upon graduation.
For my 4th and final term I wanted to push myself outside my comfort zone even more, which is why I applied to the RBC Entrepreneurship Program. While I’ve had previous experience developing a start-up with Enactus uOttawa, completing a co-op term in this field was something new and exciting. I believed that trying something new and different would help me emerge from my undergraduate degree as a well rounded and experienced young professional.
I have definitely made strides towards this goal and I’m just over half way done my term!
I’ve had the opportunity to work for a bustling young startup in Hyre where I have been a part of many different functions within the team, from completing financial projections for investor due diligence to doing outbound sales calls (and landing clients). I’ve had a role in discussing the strategy and vision of the company, improving operations efficiency, optimizing data analysis processes, developing and tracking sales channels, creating an ancillary revenue stream, and much more.
I’m very grateful to RBC and the uOttawa Co-op program for this awesome opportunity. I’m looking forward to all the new things I’ll be learning in the upcoming months!
