Suzu, Japan

First posting of my recent Japan trip — a photographic study of Suzu.

Suzu is a small, old world town in the North tip of the Noto peninsula (Google Map here). Best reached by car from Kanazawa, it is famous for a beautiful “battleship rock” called Mitsukejima Island. Mitsukejima-san, flanked by a small torii, felt almost spiritual and reminded me of the imposing haystacks we get to see along the Oregon coast. Suzu, although I suspect not widely visited by foreign tourists, is also well known for having amazing seafood and wonderful onsens (our hotel room had natural volcanically heated water flowing straight into our bath tub).

The scenery was unspeakably beautiful, so I’ll do my best to represent it visually.
