Intern-esting
Someone said it right —
Life happens where you least expect it to!
Who would know that the upcoming vacation would mark as one of the most interesting days of my life
How it all started
Well, the exams finally came to an end after almost a month. I was all pumped up and excited to do something new during my vacation, but had no idea what I would be doing. So basically, I had no plans! For the first two days, I was “chilling out” and enjoying the vacation mood that was set .This didn’t last long; I started getting bored after trying out all the usual “holiday stuff”. I decided to learn something new and even this idea started getting boring after a while. And then finally when I ran out of things to do, I had this felling that I was killing time. At this point, two weeks into the vacation, I’d already worked on 3 different projects (Related to high voltage DC — wanted to pull this off; a musical Tesla coil!).All of a sudden, one of my teachers, Prof.Ajay calls and then this is where it all started,With a phone call :p
Initial Hi-Hello stuff
Prof. “Are you free and are you interested in interning for two months. All the seniors are busy so you have a chance.”
Me. “ I’d love to”
Prof. “ I was told to send a group of students so make a group of 3–5 with one of your senior and then you can visit the place ”
Agreeing to the plan, me,one of my best friends and one of my seniors planned to go the place. The worst part was - we did not know anything about the company we were going to, like no clue whatsoever!(So you can imagine how desperate and restless I was to try something new!).Two days later we finally plan to go, the place was around 16 kms away and it took us around an hour to get there with all the traffic in Bangalore; the sweetest thing about Bangalore is the jam!.Seeing the traffic and the time it would take to get there everyday, for the next two months, we lost half of our enthusiasm and almost thought of quitting this idea of internship. And then finally we reach the area where the place was located, to our surprise it turned out to be a residential area .We had to look around for 10 mins to find out the place, even though the map showed we were standing right there! So, by this time it became obvious that it was a startup and not a huge establishment (Not knowing how this startup would be, we decided to drop this idea of internship. I thought it was a greater waste of time and moreover, going through the Bangalore traffic everyday; no ways I’m doing it!).We had the thoughts of leaving from the outside. But, struggling so much to get here, we thought we’ll at least see the place and then return. We finally find the place — it’s this cute little building. We were finally there! And when we saw this place from the inside, man it blew my mind away! All the stress we had was gone in a second ,the only expression we had was — f*** this is so good! We wanted to intern at this startup no matter whatever it took, how much ever time it took to come here every single day, how much ever traffic we had to face, at that moment if I had a magical lamp, I would make a wish to intern here. So what was so special about this place ?
