About LFC and the current situation

Liverpool FC has become a formidable force under Jurgen Klopp, who started this journey in 2015. Although, Liverpool has the pedigree of winning big titles. But this altogether changed, by gegen pressing style of football that was introduced. Initially, there were no rewards but slowly and steadily results can be seen.

Under Klopp, Liverpool achieved its major success by lifting the UEFA Champions League in the 2018–19 season. Then came the beloved Premier League trophy along with the FIFA Club World Cup in the 2019–20 season. Success was rampant and the atmosphere was frenzy at Anfield. But there was also a cultural clash in England with Klopp vs Guardiola, which lifted the English football to its height today.

Currently, Liverpool are sitting in 1st position in the Premier League. But in the 2023–24 season, Jurgen Klopp announced his departure from Liverpool till the end of the season. Which has come as a shock even for the players. And here are some possible replacements for Jurgen Klopp.

1) Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho

Famously known as the “Special One” has transformed many big football clubs. Be it Porto, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspurs and AS Roma, everyone has seen his style of play. His style of play is literally defined by “Park The Bus” philosophy. This is a defensive style of play in football that everyone is familiar with but comes with a lethal counterattack.

Jose Mourinho was sacked by AS Roma, where his current stint ended on 16th January 2024. And now, he is without a club. Having a brilliant experience with English clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs, he could be the perfect replacement. Winning English and European titles, he could be the next best fit.

2) Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso

Former player of Liverpool FC, he won the famous Champions League in Istanbul in 2005 against AC Milan. His career as a player has been phenomenal. Winning the World Cup and Euro Cup with Spain has been a highlight.

But his life has taken a turn in a managerial role with Bayer Leverkusen. Currently, his team is at the top of the German League (Bundesliga) with 49 points. This year, they have overshadowed the mighty, Bayern Munich. From the possible 57 points in 19 matches, Bayer Leverkusen has gained 49 points by winning 15 and drawing 4 games.

Xabi Alonso has been a player under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid. Brewing with a mix of young talents like Florian Wirtz and Victor Boniface and experienced players like Granit Xhaka and Lukas Hradecky, Alonso has done a great job. This goes to show, he can do wonders at Liverpool.

3) Xavi

Xavi

This has to be some coincidence, that Xavi and Klopp are leaving their respective teams at the end of the 2023–2024 season. Xavi is the current FC Barcelona manager and was once their formidable player. Winning the Spanish title as a player and manager, he is highly regarded.

He became Barcelona’s manager when the club was facing financial turmoil. And has lifted the club into a much more competitive team. He also has the experience of managing young and experienced players. Although, he has not managed an English team but has played against them a lot.

At the moment, Barcelona are sitting in 4th position in La Liga (Spanish League) with 44 points. But, he is not far off in this race and it could be a surprise if he becomes Liverpool FC’s next manager.

Conclusion

Although, all three managers are a great choice I think Xabi Alonso could be Liverpool’s next manager. Or maybe Liverpool could be looking for a different choice altogether. But all the above people are high on the list.
