I’m on a seafood diet. Every time I see food, I eat it.

Maintaining a proper diet, exercise-routine, and all-around healthy lifestyle isn’t easy. Everyone out there knows the struggle of integrating a healthy routine into their lives.

Strength gains take training consistency. Staying healthy is the best way to maintain this consistency and having a variety of nutrient-dense foods keeps you on track to sustain this training. It’s the combination of various foods complimented with a training plan that will make you a fitter person.

Getting gains with good health requires more than macros. You need variety in your diet among all the food groups to ensure a diversity of not only macronutrients, but vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, pre- and probiotics, bioactive compounds, fibers, food factors, etc. This variety ensures we obtain the entire spectrum of life-giving properties from the foods we consume.

With these foods in mind, you will want to manage your ‘energy balance’. This is done by tracking energy (in) from food and energy used (out) by the body in terms of calories, is being maintained. Keep intake to levels that will support your exercise & lifestyle, but not (excess) body fat.

To be on point year-round and trying to achieve (or maintain) the physique that you want requires consistency, a positive mindset towards your food and nutrition, and the effort and discipline it entails with training. You need to know your priorities and stick with them, making sure that all (most) of your actions align with that goal. You’ve got to be able to make decisions that not all people are not going to normally make. Sadly, there’s no shortcut.
