Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville Team up for Skiptrace!
Jackie Chan has got a new partner in crime, Johnny Knoxville! In the upcoming action comedy, Skiptrace, director Renny Harlin, known for his works on “Die Hard 2” and “Cliffhanger”, brings these two brilliant actors together. The trailer of the movie which has been unveiled just a few days ago, has already created a lot of curiosity and excitement amongst the fans. Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville lead this new buddy-cop movie, which is all set to hit the theatres near you this weekend!
Skiptrace follows the life of Bennie Chan (Jackie Chan), a Hong Kong detective who has been tracking notorious crime boss Matador (Victor Wong) for over a decade. When Bennie’s late partner Yung’s daughter Samantha, played by Bingbing Fan gets into trouble with Wong’s crime syndicate, Bennie must track down the American conman, Connor Watts, whose actions got her there. Connor Watts (Johnny Knoxville) is a gambler who has been banned in America. Connor is in Russia being kidnapped by a Russian kinpin. Bennie races against time to bring Connor back to Hong Kong. Bringing him back to the city is crucial for Bennie as Connor also possesses knowledge about Victor Wong that, if exposed, could finally bring the corrupt businessman to justice. And, from here this unlikely pair embarks on an entertaining and perilous adventure that spans from the mountains of Mongolia to the dunes of the Gobi desert.
The trailer of Skiptrace will give you Jackie Chan’s “Rush Hour” kind of vibes. While Chan looks impressive flaunting his fighting skills, Johnny Knoxville displays his comedic flair. Quite evident from the trailer, Jackie plays the role of a detective and Johnny is a gambler and a fugitive. Just like every movie of Chan, fans can expect some funny scenes mixed with action sequences in Skiptrace as well. Eric Tsang, Winston Chao, Lanxin Zhang and Michael Wong will also be seen in the film doing some pivotal roles.
Skiptrace is the first movie of director Renny Harlin with Chan. Apparently they collaborated in another project “Nosebleed” in 2001, but unfortunately it was shelved. For the role of Connor Watts, Johnny Knoxville was not the first choice. The role was initially offered to Seann William Scott. After he refused, the role fell into Knoxville’s kitty. The film is slated to release this Friday on 2nd of September. For a Jackie Chan fan, nothing can stop them from going to cinema to watch their hero in action!
Summary: Director Renny Harlin’s Skiptrace will see the action hero Jackie Chan sharing screen space with American comedian Johnny Knoxville for the first time!
