Hollywood is an interesting place filled with larger than life people and beautiful palm trees reaching the skies. Apart from all the rich and the famous residing there, in Hollywood’s underbelly lurks some dark secrets. Many movies like The Long Goodbye and Mulholland Drive have been made that brings the darkness of Hollywood to the forefront. Here’s a movie by David Robert Mitchell which will leave you intrigued about the glossy stars.

David Robert Mitchell became a sensation after directing the horror film, It Follows in 2014. Now, he’s back with a modern neo-noir that stars Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough and Topher Grace in lead roles. The plot of the movie revolves a 33- year old unemployed slacker named Sam who turns detective to find out the attractive woman named Sarah (played by Riley Keough) he met in the apartment complex swimming pool the night before.

Sam then goes on a wild goose chase through Los Angeles stumbling upon clues that could lead him to her, but then he discovers a larger, more sinister conspiracy than he ever imagined, involving celebrities, billionaires, urban myths and even pop culture as we know it. Sam gets lost in the ephemera of movies, gaming and other analog media until they control his entire waking reality. It would not be a surprise if you find the movie to be a little Lynchian.

Under The Silver Lake also stars Zosia Mamet, Jimmi Simpson, Laura- Leigh, Patrick Fischler, Luke Baines, Callie Hernandez and Riki Lindhome amongst others. The music for the movie is composed by Disasterpeace, with whom he’s previously collaborated with for It Follows. The camera work for the movie is done by Mike Gioloukas.

The world premiere of Under The Silver Lake was held at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and the movie will release in the United States on December 7, 2018. The movie will release in India in the same month.

Are you excited for a neo-noir filled with pop culture references shot in the City of Angels? Keep waiting and watch the trailer of the movie if you haven’t watched it yet.
