One note: you talk about most people defending free spech as they have always been in the right side of the discourse. I’ve seen some examples of a curious trend that contradicts this: there is a, to put it simply, rapper that was condemned to be jailed in Spain for some satirical tweets about the terrorism policy, something that caused an uproar of course because twitter, jokes, freedom of speech and because, well, it actually deserves an uproar. Well, this guy defended the Hazteoir/CitizenGo transphobic bus. He defended it because, I guess, he felt like a martyr of freedom of speech, from jail, from the bullying of the net, and felt like he had to defend the freedom of speech even if it defended his enemies. I’ve seen that weird defeated thing everywhere from people from the left, saying that “they have the right to say that and I will die defending their freedom”. This is how well the doctrine has come to everyone. Now everyone is supposed to be a martyr of freedom of speech when the time comes.
