Happy September-The Month Of Falling Into A Better You!

This week I decided to read “What To Say When You Talk To Your Self” by Shad Helmsetter, this book is an in-depth look at how we talk to ourselves.

I will be discussing:

1. Speak Positively To Yourself

2. Our Inner Critic

3. Reprogram Your Mind

And be sure to read my last blog on “Book Review: Grow & Strengthen Your Confidence” & “FREE Download: September Desktop Wallpapers”.

If I could some up this book into one word it would have to be the word Self-talk: the act or practice of talking to oneself, either aloud or silently and mentally.

1. Speak Positively To Yourself

As crazy as it sounds people are often inclined to beat themselves up even it may seem like it’s for something small. These negative thoughts are still popping up, even if you’re unaware they are happening. Negative self-talk is a hard habit to break, some of what we say to ourselves we wouldn’t dare say to someone we love.

When our pessimistic thoughts and feelings wash over us, it feels like a huge struggle to be positive. You have to be willing to stop yourself from going down that path and match that negative thought with a positive one.

2. Our Inner Critic

Everyone has that inner critic, but that voice can sometimes be more damaging than helpful. Constructive criticism should be motivating, inspirational and productive to help us reach our goals.

This is why we should monitor how often we get these negative thoughtsand can manifest in different ways. Through significant stress, mind, body and can also affect those around us.

3. Reprogram Your Mind

Constructing different ways of thinking and creating new habits, which is incredibly hard to do. But in the end, it’s worth it, we have to rewrite the past lies we have told ourselves and uncover the truth. We all have the potential to do this, but not everyone is willing to act upon it. And those that don’t act on it are usually frustrated and angry at those who have decided to because they are happy with what they’ve accomplished.

Would I Buy Or Read Again?

Can I see myself re-reading Shad Helmsetter’s book “What To Say When You Talk To Your Self” again? Yes! Can I see myself even purchasing “What To Say When You Talk To Your Self”? Yes, because this book helped me understand where my negative thoughts are coming from and how to handle them.

The Question of the Week is inspired by Shad Helmsetter’s book “What To Say When You Talk To Your Self”. When you talk to yourself are positive or negative?

Answer: It tends to be negative but I am always trying to speak positively.
