It enables the consumers to buy goods from the shop owner over the Internet directly. It enables the consumer to browse a wide range of goods from their home.

History :
English entrepreneur Michael Aldrich was a pioneer of Online shopping in 1979. His system connected a domestic TV to a real-time transaction processing computer via a domestic telephone line.
In March 1980, he launched Redifon’s Office Revolution, which allowed consumers and service companies to be connected on-line to the corporate systems and allow business transactions to be completed electronically.
A secure shopping channel has developed since 1994, with the first sales of Sting album ‘Ten Summoner’s Tales’. Researchers found that having products that are appropriate for e-commerce was a key indicator of Internet success.
