Where do I see myself after 2 months of the WIT program?
Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death ~Albert Einstein
Hey, everyone. Another week is about to end and I can proudly say that I am not the same person I was at the start of this week. I got a lot to learn in these 7 days. It’s not about a week or a month, with the end of each day when I look back, I find that I am making progress. It’s been 9 weeks since the WIT fellowship has been started. During this period of 9 weeks, I got many opportunities to bring the best out of me. This progress is the result of my consistent efforts as well as the support of my batch members and mentors. In this blog, I have shared my journey of 2 months and how I could shape myself to build a better version of myself.
Cycle of learning
This program taught me that every day is a new opportunity to learn. Every day we are assigned some tasks and at the end of the day, we do a quick check of the progress made through the stand-up calls. These stand-up calls are far better than normal professional meetings. We discuss our progress as well as the obstacles that we face while working on the milestone. Also, try to cope with others by helping them with their problems.

At the start of this program, we learned about the tools and technologies required in the process to become a web developer. We also set smart goals for ourselves. Before joining this program, I hardly knew about Github, Leetcode, Stack Overflow, etc. But now I am working on all these platforms.

Until the 7th week, we were working on the frontend development by learning HTML, CSS, and Js. We made some small projects using these three languages and also learned some basics of python. From the 8th week, we started learning about the backend part. We made wireframes, high-level architecture and Database schema for our application. There is still a lot to learn but at least we touched the upper layer of the working structure of the back end.
Small steps lead to big progress
Drop by drop fills the ocean. Even the smallest step contributes to achievements. The day when you don’t learn something new is a day wasted. That’s why we need to take each step every day no matter how small it is. While working with ColoredCow, I learned the importance of consistency. It seems difficult to learn Web development. But at the end of every milestone, it feels like I am taking a step forward in this learning process. Till now, I have learned about many programming languages. I have worked with Python, HTML, CSS and Js. Also, I have created a wireframe as well as a high-level architecture and Database schema for the same app. I am looking forward to learning ReactJs and MongoDB this week.
Someone said to me, “Do what you love and love what you do”. The learning process becomes fun when you start enjoying it. At this point, I am enjoying the process of learning Web development and this fellowship. Surely, the efforts of our mentors and the members of ColoredCow will help us to reach our goals.
