How to deal with Information overload

Has this happened to you? You go to work every day. You have a list of several tasks and targets to complete within a certain time period like complete research, follow up with clients, write minutes of meetings, make travel plans, etc. You are overwhelmed by the amount of information you are asked to process. Questions clamor in your head: What to do? In what order? Information overload, in today’s “Age of Intelligence”, is a major issue.

A study conducted by the University of California in 2012 claims that levels of data are such that we need 12 hours each day to simply receive all the information. The amount has, most probably, only increased since 2012. Every one of us has felt overwhelmed by the amount of data available from various sources. This information overload leads to stress, reduced productivity, poor time management, bad decisions and loss of focus. Possibly lead to poor health conditions.

As individuals and as organizations, combating information overload is a priority now.

What you need is a tool that allows you to organize all this information in an accessible, pleasant and logical way. A Mind Map is such a tool! It allows you to organize all the data and have a birds-eye view of all the information you need.

A Mind Map can help you think with greater clarity to explore relationships between ideas and elements of subjects and to generate solutions for time management. It puts a new perspective on things by allowing you to see all the relevant issues and analyze choices in light of the big picture. It also becomes easier to integrate new knowledge and organize information logically as you aren’t tied to a rigid structure.

In today’s world of unprecedented information the Mind Map is a vital tool.
