a ball
squashed into a mass
of paper mess
trying to be at peace
and yet
crumpled
again and again
pressed into this mass
hopeful
that the story is still clear
enough to appreciate
crinkles
from the last time
crumpled
it’s happening again
that feeling
the need to uncurl
unfurl
reveal
now just as crinkled
as before
this time
less noticeable
with damage already done
easier
the uncurling
it’s easier
appreciating the crinkles
they do not mar
the exciting story to be told
no need to be straightened out
