I can’t begin to thank you enough for expressing how crippling the ‘dev’ interview process can be, and how candidates can feel like hostages whenever they are asked to whiteboard. I’ve worked and produced a number of code, but having that dreaded ‘feeling of being’ whiteboarded while the interviewer is just trying to quiz and make you feel like you are ‘dumb’ because you haven’t brushed up on CS fundamentals in 10+ years is totally embarrassing and I’m not sure if it helps the industry as a whole. I love the mentoring idea and that concept isn’t pushed enough.
