When I was 10, I dreamt of being a princess, someone that lived out the rest of their days with their prince charming in a castle. That was my definition of happiness. 7 years later, now being 17 years old, I realize that happiness is 1. subjective but 2. very different than what I imagined when I was younger. I thought I needed other people to be happy & have someone validate me when really all I needed was myself. Someone who helped me along the way immensely was our good pal Fredrick Nietzsche and his principles on happiness.
Let’s…
Last week, I decided to declutter and clean out my room (I know pretty weird for the average teenager but you’ll find out in a bit why it was extremely valuable). Now I know that parents can get on your back about cleaning your room and for reference this is usually what I look like when I do, but you never know what you might find in all that clutter🤷♀️.
I sure didn’t and because of that experience I’m now sharing what I found here, hoping it could give some motivation to anyone reading. Okay, first off let’s jump back…
All around the world, we experience many problems on a daily basis, especially when it comes to our health. By far one of the greatest public health issues to ever exist is antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistance is predicted to cause around 10 million deaths each year by 2050 and currently 700,000 people die every year due to drug resistant diseases. It occurs when bacteria in our body becomes resistant to drugs & vaccines/prevention methods, which results in them multiplying and causing harm to the body.
As of right now, antibiotic resistance proves to be one of the biggest threats to…
What are some of the biggest problems in the world right now? Poverty? Climate Change? Inequality? Well, alot of these issues stem from not having proper global health systems around the world. I know, sounds a little crazy but hear me out here. Ensuring global health is the foundation of everything. How are people supposed to change the world or do anything if their health isn’t in tact?
To give some context, there are many issues related to the medical system, including things like sanitation, antibiotic resistance, even pandemics like the novel coronavirus.
The interesting thing is that if we…
Uptil the age of 16, all I ever wanted to be was a doctor👩⚕️. It’s interesting because I had a good group of friends, good grades, and an okay life. Everyday was the same, I would get up and get ready, go to school, do an assignment or a test and in that way, my life was very robotic. I didn’t know a life outside of school, didnt know I needed to do anything different.
I didn’t even realize I needed a new perspective. I became complacent. Okay with how things turned out. I reached this point in my life…
Most of us don’t wake up realizing that we have a rare cardiac disorder that could possibly kill us, but for patients who do, they would know that it has been difficult to find solutions and potential treatments for a dangerous disorder without the right technology.
Cardiac issues still prove to be the #1 leading cause of death in the world, and while alot of these issues are widely known such as coronary artery disease, heart attacks and heart defects, but there are disorders that can be extremely dangerous that progress much more slowly and not as known.
For those…
I’m sure if you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ve probably been aware of the huge global pandemic around coronavirus, the disease known as COVID-19. There’s been a lot of information circulating around the virus itself and how it’s affected more than 400,000 people around the planet, in just a span of a few months.
Currently, questions are being asked about how close scientists are to finding cures or a vaccine to prevent viral infection and how coronavirus can be transmitted so quickly. …
Okay so, I’m sure you’ve probably heard this a thousand times🤦♀️. Whether you were binging tumblr quotes (not judging, I do it too🤷♀️), or in a really difficult situation in your life, it’s generally something I hear on a daily basis. I just never really internalized it, not until the last few months.
The truth is, most of you reading this article probably have access to internet, food on the table, good parents, a good lifestyle, possibly a goal or something to work towards🎯.
I’ve (luckily) never had to experience anything truly bad in my life (depends on what you…
Coming into high school in grade 9 was pretty nerve wracking. As you can imagine, I was 15 years old and focused alot on things like relationships, grades, friends, etc👭.
I had this mindset going in about what I wanted to do or accomplish there. I already pregamed my list of clubs to be a part of, subjects to take, the career path I wanted to be on📖.
Typical high school preparation stuff (I now take online school so it probably didnt work out as well for me🤦♀️). …
The fear of living without a heart is not something people generally think about, doesn’t come to mind when we are at work, school, or doing our regular activities.
But I think this goes for our entire bodies and basically the way we live. I don’t know about you, but I tend to complain alot. Being a 16 year old in school, I dont often think of a reality where I would have to live without a heart or necessary part of my body.
But just because I dont have to go through it, doesn’t mean kids aren’t suffering in…
