How I used AR To Build 3D MRI Scans

Growing up, I’ve always been fascinated by the medical system as a whole, but more specifically how we can solve so many issues we see with our healthcare techniques in the past.

If you think about it, our timeline of medicine has shifted dramatically between our past, present and future, mainly due to that factor of technology, which has opened some pretty cool doors for unlocking value in anything medicine. So I started thinking the other day, what is a big problem being faced by doctors today?

Well, misdiagnosis happens often in in-person health care, but the risks dramatically increase when we don't have 3D anatomical structures for doctors to actually see the patients anatomy. This is where we run into a bit of trouble.

One of the questions I always ask myself is if our body is in 3D, so why are we still relying on 2D imaging?

When doctors plan for surgery, they have to rely on piecing together a series of 2D images to understand the patient’s complex anatomy. 3D medical visualization is so important to understand the different parts to something as simple as an organ, to a complex tumor that is composed of millions of cells.

If we want to solve cancer, or other life-threatening diseases, then how we can’t accomplish that with a simple 2D slice of the scan, when we can now view 3d organs for an accurate version of it.
