The All New Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the revamped version of its Scorpio in Mumbai, with prices starting at Rs. 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The new model comes with more aggressive and contemporary styling on the outside, along with several technically advanced features on the inside.

This Scorpio comes with six different variants namely the S2, S4, S6, S6 Plus, S8, and S10. The basic version is offered with a 2.5 L m2DiCr engine, while the rest come powered with a 2.2-litre mHawk motor.

The new Mahindra Scorpio comes with a brand new modular ladder frame chassis, which is now to be included in all of Mahindra’s SUVs. Almost all Scorpio variants come with a new clutch, highly refined engine, a new front suspension, chassis, Antilock Braking System (ABS), and front axle disconnect.

On the outside, changes are quite conspicuous — an imposing grille in the front along with a bonnet scoop, new parking lights, dual-tone applique on rear door, and 17-inch alloy wheels for towering stance. On the inside, the car now has blue grey interiors, brand new instrument cluster, a dual tone dashboard, steering with mounted audio controls, a 6-inch touch screen added with navigation, fully automatic temp control, and tyre-tronics for gauging tyre pressure.

Though the Scorpio continues to be powered by the same mHawk engine, it now generates a greater torque, which implies better manoeuvring. The mHawk engine delivers a power of 121 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The Scorpio also comes mated with a new 5-speed transmission, which is claimed to result in better performance and fuel efficiency and is easier to use. The new generation Scorpio gives a company claimed mileage of 15.37 kmpl, and comes at a price starting at 7.98 Lakhs.
