Trailingcrypto vs 3commas vs Cryptohopper vs Coinigy — Top Trading Bots Comparison

A comparative study of top crypto bots based on Pricing, Order Types, Bots Category, Supported Exchanges, User Interface, Charting, Portfolio, Notification, Learning Curve, Security, Stability, Documentation, Customer Support and Reviews.

Trailingcrypto vs 3commas vs Cryptohopper vs Coinigy

Pricing:

Trailingcrypto beats all other platforms when it comes to pricing. 3commas and Cryptohopper both have very similar pricing and Coinigy is a little Cheaper than 3commas and Cryptohopper because Coinigy only Excels in charting and Trading & Bots are not their niches. In some plans 3Commas charge 50% commission for composite bots.

Trailingcrypto is currently completely free with all the premium features till it is in Beta Phase, after that It will have a free version with the limitation on the number of open orders and the Premium version for unrestricted access. Rest three platforms offer a month Trial Period to test out the Platform which is really great.

Supported Order Types:

Trailingcrypto again beats all other platforms in the category of Supported Order Types. It offers a wide variety of order types to meet all the requirements of both Day Trader and Long term trader. The list includes “Limit, Market, Stop Loss, Step Take Profit and Stop Buy with Limit/Market/Trailing, Trailing Stop Sell/Buy, OCO , OSO, Bracket Order, Cyclic OSO for HODL”. It is followed by 3Commas. They also supports a wide range of orders types. List contains “Stop Loss, Take Profit, OCO (SL+TP), Stop Buy, Step TP, Trailing Stop Loss, Trailing Take Profit”. Cryptohopper only supports order type with Signals. You can’t use it for Day Trading. Coinigy is very basic in this category as of now. It only supports market and limit order. In a tweet, they announced that they are working on more advanced order types and will release in 2019.

Exchanges:

Coinigy is the winner in this Category and contains about 40 exchanges support. 3commas, cryptohopper, and Trailingcrypto supports about the same number of exchanges. All of them includes the following exchanges which are most popular amongst traders these days: Bittrex, BitFinex, Binance, Bitstamp, KuCoin, Poloniex, HitBTC, Cex, Coinbase, ProOKEX, Huobi, YOBIT

Bots:

3commas.io is the winner in this category giving tough competition to Cryptohopper and TrailingCrypto.

3Commas supports the following types of Bots:

  • Long bots with TradingView or custom signals
  • Short Bots — Short bot will open and close positions automatically. Good for the bear market.
  • Bots with QFL method — Set up a QFL bot that will trade automatically Best for stable market.
  • Composite bots for multiple pairs

Cryptohopper :

  1. Technical Indicator based bots
  2. Telegram Signal bot, most of the channels are their own proprietary channel and not available in public.

TrailingCrytpo :

  1. Email Triggers based Bot, where order executer on email alerts by TradingView. This can be also used with Technical Indicators.
  2. Telegram Signal bot, most of the channels are publicly listed channels and offer good returns.

Coinigy doesn’t support bot.

User Interface:

It is very difficult to find a clear winner in the UI section. With a small margin, 3Commas could be considered as the winner in the UI section.

Each platform UI has its own strengths and weaknesses. There are two parameters on which UI can be measured.

  1. How attractive the overall theme is. Does it support dark mode?
  2. Ease of use, which is a very important aspect.

3commas has a very clean UI. It also has a dark theme. Different panels are customizable and have the option to show or hide. The sidebar contains various menu options which makes navigation quite easy. UI rating is 9/10

CryptoHopper UI has also very good. Both 3Commas and CryptoHopper design elements are close. CryptoHopper too has left sidebar having multiple options to select. The Drak theme is supported there. It too has the option to show or hide panels. Different panels are a little more cluttered and have the scope of improvement. During usages, I couldn’t notice some of the features due to cluttered UI. Also, it took some effort to understand the platform UI completely. One part particularly I don’t like is that the chart is on a different page which makes it difficult to be used. UI rating 8/10

TrailingCrypto UI is pretty unique among the three. Color combination is not the best but the design is unique in its own way. UI is least cluttered among all and contains only those elements which are required most by traders. The menu option on the top of the page and takes minimal space. The different panels are collapsible. The best part is the order form and the market chart resides on side by side which is really handy during trading. The Drak theme is not available. I found the navigation and learning curve super easy. The UI rating is 8.5/10.

Coinigy UI is also good. The onboarding experience is nice. They have multiple background change option but the theme is primarily dark. I think I personally don’t like the too cluttered UI and some of the non-intuitive UI elements. UI rating is 8/10

Charting:

Except for Coinigy, all three platforms 3Commas, CryptoHopper, and TrailingCrypto use TradingView for charting. Because of this, all 3 have hard dependency on TradingView for market charts. TradingView doesn’t support charting for every exchange, because this all 3 platform charting doesn’t not charting for some exchanges. Coinigy has its own charting engine. It keeps the historical data point of the market and uses it to render charts. This standout Coinigy from the rest of the platform.

3Commas, CryptoHopper, and TrailingCrypto is rated 7/10 and Coinigy 10/10. As charting is the strength of Coinigy and it is the clear winner here.

Security:

I have gone closely to read the security whitepaper of each of the platforms. I personally talked customer support of the platform to understand how security complaints they are.

I have given ratings for security based on the following parameters:

  • 2 Factor Authentication
  • User Data Encryption during storage
  • SSL, DDos and WAF Protection
  • MIM attack protection using CSRF and XSS protection
  • Authorization Flow Security Protocol

It talks vaguely about their encryption policy. What kind of encryption they use is not stated in doc. Also, they state that:

3Commas may transfer your personal data with selected third parties including affiliates, business partners, suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance and execution of any contract we enter into with them or you. We may also transfer to advertisers and advertising networks solely to select and serve relevant ads to you and for analytics and search engine providers that assist us improve and optimize our website.

7.5/10 for 3Commas.

CryptoHopper: 8.5/10

They have not stated why encryption algorithm they uses. They state that:

Our website is protected by Cloudflare, which has a web application firewall and Ddos protection active on our website. The Cryptohopper platform is hosted on Amazon Web Services and our servers are secured by them. Any saved passwords and API keys are encrypted in our database.

TrailingCrypto: 8.5/10

Security is paramount for us. TrailingCrypto follow all the best security practices. Presently all sensitive data are stored after 256-bit encryption, which is almost impossible to break. Also prevent unauthorized access, TrailingCrypto provides 2FA. We have taken sufficient security measures to prevent DDos attack. We uses one of the advance WAF protection.

Coinigy: 9.5/10

Coinigy state that:

At Coinigy, security is our top priority. We have taken a multitude of steps to help ensure your data is safe and secure. We recognize that in order to provide a secure platform in the digital currency space, security is an interminable effort. Our security team works perpetually to combat the latest in cyber threats in a proactive manner. While we cannot disclose all of our defense techniques.

I’m quite impressed with Coinigy security whitepaper. And it is the winner in the security section.

Notification:

3Commas sends notification via Email and Telegram. CryptoHopper send notification via the only emails. TrailingCrypto also sends notification by emails, however, they claim that soon they are going to add telegram notification support. Coinigy support notification via SMS, email and in the browser.

So, again Coinigy is winner in this section.

Stability:

I personally found all the 4 platforms quite stable. All have great uptime. However, there are minor glitches on all platforms. As TrailingCrypto in the beta phase, so it should be rated as 8/10, though it is very stable. The rest of the platform can be rated as 9/10.

Learning Curve:

TrailingCrypto again aces here over the rest of the platform. The simplicity of TrailingCrypto is its strength. It has a single page, which contains an order form, charts, order history, wallet balance, and analytics. The order form is quite consistent. TrailingCrypto uses standard market terminology which makes it easy to understand. Order types are self-explanatory and very easy to understand. In short, I’ll say it is simple yet powerful. The learning curve is super high. It must be rated at 9/10.

I also liked 3Commas’ ease of use. The order form is simple to understand. But they have used their own terminology which takes some time to understand. But once they are understood thing becomes simple. 3Commas have bot option which is way too complex for a simple trade. In my opinion, this part could be simplified. It should be rated as 7.5/10

CryptoHopper has a lot of their own terminology which makes it difficult to use at first instant. The learning curve is pretty slow there. Their cluttered UI also makes things difficult. I should be rated as 6.5/10.

Coinigy is primarily known for its charts which reflect on its landing page. The learning curve is moderate to high there. Easy navigation and gamified onboarding make it simpler to understand. 8/10.

Documentation:

Coinigy is the winner of this documentation

All the platforms are well documented. The only differentiating factor is how topics are explained with suitable examples. Do they have video tutorials?

3Commas and CryptoHopper have more or less similar types of documentation and topic coverage. CryptoHopper could have a slight edge over 3Commas. Both have a decent number of videos. I would rate 3Commas: 8.5/10 and CryptoHopper:9/10

TrailingCrypto is also well documented but for some articles, the visual imagery and examples can be increased. TrailingCrypto has a decent number of video tutorials on youtube. I would rate TrailingCrypto: 8/10

Coinigy has the upper hand as it is in the market for a long time and has better community support. Their documentation is good and also videos could be easily found online. I would rate Coinigy: 9.5/10

Customer support:

TrailingCrypto trumps over the rest of the platform when it comes to customer support.

Customer support is an important aspect of any trader. If you stuck in some trade or got into some trouble then it becomes important how prompt the customer support response. TrailingCrypto customer support is super prompt. They not just resolve the problem quickly but also try to accommodate the customer’s feature requests as much as possible. I have seen people have requested a new feature and TrailingCrypto has delivered that in the next 2–3 weeks.

Verdict

It is very difficult to choose a single platform for a winner.

If someone looking for more advance order type on all leading exchange then TralingCrypto is the unanimous winner here. It is much ahead in terms of the number of different order types supported by competitors. Telegram signal and technical indicator support by email are great to add on. And the best part is they are charging nothing in comparison to the competitor. Also, they are promising future charge for premium service will be less than $15, for which others are charging

If someone is looking for charts and portfolio management at a single point then Coinigy will be the best choice.

If someone is looking for fully automated trading then 3Commas and CryptoHopper make sense. 3Commas bot work on technical analysis whereas CryptoHopper works on Telegram signals.

Personally I’m not a fan of bots or automated trading. In spite of big profit claims by bot companies, in the experience money-making is not that easy by using bots or automated trade. So, I prefer to advance order type and good charting over bots.
