After having a decade long steady career as a Civil servant, I often stayed up in the middle of the night pondering where my life is heading. Initially, I felt something is wrong with me but soon I discovered these thoughts are normal. I feel all of us at some point go through similar phases and there is nothing wrong with having such thoughts.
