I am already doing everything you suggest :-) and love it. Closed my FB account 4 years ago and never regretted it. Skim Twitter max 15 minutes. Read every night when I got to bed until I fall asleep AND use it when I have bouts of insomnia (love my low light ebook reader). This last use of my insomnia time has transformed my suffering into an opportunity and paradoxically has done wonders to shorten my mid night wake up bouts. I do skim news though but also that takes me 15 mins a day not more having built a short list of authoritative sources I like.
