3 reasons why you can’t perform at your best in business & life
Apr 29, 2016
In this article, I’d like to tell you about why you may hold yourself back from performing at your top level and getting tangible results in business and life.
Through intensive personal development work that I have done myself and coaching hundreds of individuals I found out that there are three major reasons why people don’t quite create what they truly want in life.
Get clear on what you are ultimately after!
Like many people who start their businesses, I also started it for the least effective reason. And my reason was the unwillingness to stay an employee for the rest of my life. Until I realised that I first wanted to get clear on what I really wanted from my life. I started with learning to prioritise my own development over anything else. It’s a very simple process yet the majority of entrepreneurs and professionals don’t do it.
It’s not about doing or achieving more and it’s certainly is not about pushing further. It’s all about letting yourself create some space to reflect on your fundamental values. What do you really stand for? What matters to you most?
And it’s not that you can do it once and forget about it. I do personal analysis with myself and my clients all the time. With the progress, you will be able to crystallise what you are ultimately after.
Why finally not to give your best shot?
Top-notch business performers and pros know that doing their best ultimately leads to engaging with their inner potential. You see, our minds are extraordinary machines that can either put us in a trap of limiting our potential or can catapult us to the place where we can start creating genius-level work.
The bottom line is to replace your limiting beliefs with more empowering ones. Old story but true.
Most entrepreneurs are afraid of giving their best because they assume that if they give it all they will still fail. It’s a belief that holds a massive amount of people back from creating what they truly want.
First, you got to disempower this belief. Take a piece of paper and write down what could be the worst case scenario if you give your best and still fail. You will probably realise that there is nothing to be afraid of.
Your limits are signs of you doing well
An ability to maintain consistency while giving your best is the key to high-performance. When you reach that place where you initially thought your limits were you will realise that there is going to be another limit. And when you reach that limit you will discover another one and then another one and ultimately you will realise that these limits are merely signs for you to grow.
For a lot of people, it is a ‘zone of danger’. But if you are really serious about utilising your full potential and self-actualise yourself through your business, craft or any kind of work then you will need to face your limits and become comfortable with being in this zone on a daily basis.
The moment you become comfortable there you will start attracting people who are also often comfortable with operating at their limits. But because in your regular environment you don’t have these type of people you also are not aware of the fact that it is normal to be in the ‘zone of danger’ most of the time.
Go after what you really want and don’t question your ability to create it
