This season is deeeeece.

Bungou Stray Dogs [worth watching]

The first episode wasn’t as amazing as I expected. But then I watched the next two episode and AW YISS this show is great! The character interactions have been pretty relaxed so far. There’s also shit tons of gore-filled action so that’s something to look forward to.

Nakajima Atsushi was kicked out of his orphanage, and now he has no place to go and no food. While he is standing by a river, on the brink of starvation, he rescues a man whimsically attempting suicide. That man is Dazai Osamu, and he and his partner Kunikida are members of a very special detective agency. They have supernatural powers and deal with cases that are too dangerous for the police or the military. They’re tracking down a tiger that has appeared in the area recently, around the time Atsushi came to the area. The tiger seems to have a connection to Atsushi, and by the time the case is solved, it is clear that Atsushi’s future will involve much more of Dazai and the rest of the detectives!

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri [LOVE IT]

If you liked Attack on Titan, you’ll probably like this one as well. In fact, it’s made by the same team that made AoT. The main character is what drew me into this show the most. He’s got some huge balls and is damn determined to wipe out zombie scum.

As the world is in the middle of an industrial revolution, a monster appears that cannot be defeated unless its heart, which is protected by a layer of iron, is pierced. By infecting humans with its bite, the monster can create aggressive and undead creatures known as Kabane.

On the island Hinomoto, located in the far east, people have built stations to shelter themselves from these creatures. People access the station, as well as transport wares between them, with the help of a locomotive running on steam, called Hayajiro.

Ikoma, a boy who lives in the Aragane station and helps to build Hayajiro, creates his own weapon called Tsuranukizutsu in order to defeat the creatures. One day, as he waits for an opportunity to use his weapon, he meets a girl named Mumei, who is excused from the mandatory Kabane inspection. During the night, Ikoma meets Mumei again as he sees Hayajiro going out of control. The staff on the locomotive has turned into the creatures. The station, now under attack by Kabane, is the opportunity Ikoma has been looking for.

Boku no Hero Academia [LOVE IT]

I got hit with a range of emotions in the first couple episodes.
“Aww, it’s adorable how much this kid loves super heroes ^_^” -me
“He has no special ability?! Nooooooo what a cruel world T_T I’m so sorry, kid.” -me
According to the interwebz, people say this show could be on the caliber of the big three shounen anime (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach). From what I’ve seen so far, I can see that happening. Oh, the animation quality’s superb if that’s something you care about.

The appearance of “quirks,” newly discovered super powers, has been steadily increasing over the years, with 80 percent of humanity possessing various abilities from manipulation of elements to shapeshifting. This leaves the remainder of the world completely powerless, and Izuku Midoriya is one such individual.

Since he was a child, the ambitious middle schooler has wanted nothing more than to be a hero. Izuku’s unfair fate leaves him admiring heroes and taking notes on them whenever he can. But it seems that his persistence has borne some fruit: Izuku meets the number one hero and his personal idol, All Might. All Might’s quirk is a unique ability that can be inherited, and he has chosen Izuku to be his successor!

Enduring many months of grueling training, Izuku enrolls in UA High, a prestigious high school famous for its excellent hero training program, and this year’s freshmen look especially promising. With his bizarre but talented classmates and the looming threat of a villainous organization, Izuku will soon learn what it really means to be a hero.

Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge [LOVE IT]

“LOL” -me
If your life is falling apart and your world is burning down, just watch this show and everything will be okay again.

Sighing, leaning on his elbows, sleepy eyes. Tanaka-kun is a boy that basically doesn’t try but isn’t disliked. This is a laid-back youth comedy about Tanaka-kun and the quiet Oota who can’t leave him alone.

Kiznaiver [worth watching]

A+ art/animation (as expected of studio Trigger). The premise is interesting and the characters are cool. I’ve been enjoying this one so far, but it’s still unclear which direction the story’s headed in.

Ahhh shit, I knew that tattoo artist was sketchy.

The anime’s setting is a fictional Japanese city named Sugomori City. One day, Noriko Sonosaki tells her classmate Katsuhira Agata, “You have been selected to be a Kiznaiver.” The Kizuna System, which allows Katsuhira to share his wounds, connects him to the classmates whose lives and personalities completely differ from his. The Kizuna System is an incomplete system for the implementation of world peace that connects people through wounds. All those who are connected to this system are called Kiznaivers. When one Kiznaiver is wounded, the system divides and transmits the wound among the other Kiznaivers. Sugomori City is built on reclaimed land, but as the years go by, the city’s population is decreasing. The story is set in this town where Katsuhira and the others live.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu [LOVE IT]

Boy goes to a fantasy world combined with Groundhog Day. Not the most original, but it’s been interesting so far. The main character’s likable, isn’t ridiculously OP, and isn’t whiny.

Suddenly, high school student Subaru Natsuki has been summoned to another world on the way back from the convenience store. With the biggest crisis of his life being summoned to another world, and with no sign of the one who summoned him, things become even worse when he is attacked. But when he is saved by a mysterious, silver-haired girl with a fairy cat, Subaru cooperates with her to return the favor. When they finally manage to get a clue, Subaru and the girl are attacked and killed by someone. Subaru then awakens in the place he was summoned and notices he gained the ability “Returns by Death” and has become a helpless boy that only has the ability to rewind time by dying. Beyond the despair, can he save the girl from the fate of death?

Mayoiga [Dropped]

Uhm..? This seems like it’s supposed to be a horror show (I mean, it’s made by the director of Another) but so far it hasn’t been successful at creating any spooky scenes.

“The fuck is this bullshit?”

A shady bus tour of young men and women is headed to an elusive village called Nanakimura. A destination where people can partake in a utopian existence, free of the world’s obstacles… or so goes the rumor.

Heading deep into the mountains, the bus is carrying 30 different individuals, each harboring their own expectations and troubled hearts…

What they had arrived to was an uninhabited village with faint, lingering scents of life as it was falling apart.

Just what is the secret of Nanakimura?

Joker Game

I’m looking forward to watching this one. It’s packed with Sherlock-esque wit and intense conversations. I don’t venture into the seinen category often but Joker Game might make me want to check out more from this genre.

Taking place in the year 1937 on the eve of World War II, the story involves a mysterious spy training organization known as the “D Agency.” The organization is established by Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki from the Imperial Japanese Army. His ideals lead him to recruit people beyond military academy graduates and personnel, while training them to become skilled agents in arts of manipulation. These agents would become a specialized team to conduct operations. One such antihero agent, under the name Jirou Gamou, goes on a harrowing mission to uncover secret documents titled “Black Notes,” while battling forces from within and without his own ranks.

Sousei no Onmyouji [Dropped]

Lots of badass action in this one! It’s allocated a good chunk of time to character development, which is nice as long as it doesn’t slow down the pacing in upcoming episodes. The opening and some flashbacks point at some interesting other characters that should (hopefully) be introduced soon.

Grotesque monsters known as Impurities reside in Magano, a realm parallel to the present day. Exorcists purify these evil apparitions to protect the people. Rokuro Enmado is opposed to becoming an exorcist, even though he has the talent to be one, but an oracle gives him the title of “Twin Star Exorcist,” the name bestowed upon married exorcists. Benio Adashino, the girl who receives the title along with Rokuro, is determined to exorcise all the Kegare, or Impurities, in the world. The two find themselves wrapped up in more and more battles together as the Twin Star Exorcists…

Big Order [Dropped]

“Have I seen this show before? Code Geass? It’s Code Geass!” -me
The main character has a power similar to Lelouch and it seems like it’s trying to become one big strategic clusterfuck.

Ten years ago, a child wished for the destruction of the world. Now, a group of people has the ability to grant their wishes depending on their power. They are called “Order User.”

Before these great people who have the power of “Order,” one person excels the most with the ability to rule and conquer the world and turn people into puppets when it is in his jurisdiction. This power belongs to Hoshimiya Eiji, who is also responsible for the destructive phenomena that happened exactly ten years ago.
