a new, and different, and better kind of world order … one based not on blood-and-soil nationalism, or spheres of influence, or conquest of the weak by the strong, but rather on universal values, rule of law, open commerce, and respect for national sovereignty and independence. Indeed, the entire idea of the West is that it open to any person or any nation that honors and upholds these values.
Don’t Count America Out
John McCain

As in genociding the original inhabitants of the Americas, bringing millions of slaves from other parts of the world, colonizing every other nation and continent?

Here’s an incomplete (since I am working off memory) list of countries that have been invaded or directly destabilized since 1945 in the name of freedom and democracy: Korea, Iran, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Chile, Colombia, Angola, Mozambique, Congo, Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras (much of Central and South America, really), Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria.

I am waiting to find out what’s going to happen now that freedom and democracy are no longer official state policy.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
