The Unexpected Trait 9 Tech Billionaires Share is an extremely misleading title for an article. The article claims that if you want to be a billionaire, there is no need to graduate college. While this may be true for the numerous people listed, it is not true for the majority of the audience. The one difference: adequate education. Multiple of the people listed are simply explained as having left college before graduation. For many of them, such as Jack Dorsey, this means dropping out one semester early. At that point, he had 3.5 years of learning and college under his belt, and his brain was packed full of the college knowledge that the article portrays as unneeded. For the others who dropped out sooner, it was because they already knew the information college was trying to teach them. If someone can enter college and build a computer business by hand, like Michael Dell, then yes, they can probably get by without the college degree credibility. These tech billionaires are rich due to the fact that they had a brilliant idea and enough knowledge in their heads (whether self-taught or from a partial college education) to make the idea a reality. If there is one thing that connects all of these billionaires, it is their dedication to expanding their minds to knowledge far beyond what is expected of them at the time.
The Taste of Cú on the other hand, is a great use of media. The article follows the story in a light-hearted manner, even when it takes a darker turn. The story opens with a playful anecdote of the dog, giving a real life example of his character, and setting the tone for the rest of the story. The quotes all seem realistic and on the longer side, making it harder for them to be shaped to skew the story. To aid the article, pictures were provided that fit with the matter at hand, and adding to the details. The pictures help bring the story to life, while also providing more proof that what is being said is realistic. By adding the section about Cú’s tough previous life, the author successfully makes the audience feel for him, even if they have never met him. However, it does not seem as though the story was exaggerated at all to gain our pity. This makes all of the audience’s feelings justified, and no one was tricked into feeling anything. Lastly, the final section of the food tasting brings the article to a good hearted ending. By avoiding saying that Cú’s choices determine the best foods overall, the article stays away from an issue over his credentials. Instead, it offers another view into the playfulness of the dog, and leaves everyone with a happy feeling.
