Andy Raskin: I love your post on Elon’s battery pitch, mostly because Elon’s delivery is so clearly not what we expect of world-class presenters. And you’re right: by framing it as a mission w/nothing less than the future of the planet at stake, he’s got people in the palm of his hand.
I don’t think you and I are that far apart — I guess I’ve just seen so many entrepreneurs try (and fail) to put on the black turtleneck and do a compelling Jobs impression that I’d rather see them tee up a productive conversation with the pitch as a first step in a longer process. If they can frame the conversation the way you set up, then absolutely that’s a great way to go.
Another way of saying it: what I laid out is fairly foundational — what you describe is both a higher degree of difficulty but equally a higher reward.
