Really well done piece, Asha. I do have a hard time with the “subscribe to your local paper, though.” Our (and your) largest paper, the Oregonian, is pitiful, and they can’t even do a good job online. (Witness the “story” on last Friday’s protests, which were nothing more than tweets, and which never got updated until nearly noon the day after. The NYT had more content on those protests than the Oregonian did.)

I too believe decency and compassion are the biggest things we can do right now. Somehow, we need to transcend the anger.
