POTUS should do his job — i.e., protect and defend the Constitution.

45th President of the United States of America

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Our flag and our country symbolize (and our Constitution protects) freedom, including freedom of speech and expression. Like it or not (and I understand most don’t like it, myself included), kneeling during the anthem is protected speech/expression. Protected by the Constitution (via the Bill of Rights) and honored when we sing the anthem and salute the flag. Ironic, I get it. But anyone who disrespects such freedom of speech and expression is actually disrespecting the Flag, the anthem, etc. And finally, POTUS has sworn an oath to protect the Constitution. He violates such oath of office in doing such things as calling for people exercising their Constitutional freedom of speech/expression to be fired or otherwise punished. While he may have a general right of speech to express such sentiment/view (as a fellow citizen), he does not have the Presidential authority to suggest the same — as such is in direct violation to his sworn duty. He, therefore, should express such views, if at all, only as citizen, NOT as President of the United States, sworn protector of the Constitution.
