I am pleased to say that the Mk2 frame is all but complete as the addition of the toggle clasps on the top section and the stabilisers on the bottom section have drastically increased the stability of the Eden Island as there is now less risk of it toppling. Additionally, I’ve coated the entire frame and the accessories with the Osmo wood protector to make the prototype as waterproof as possible so that it will be suitable for outdoor use.

Furthermore, my trip to Glasgow this weekend to visit my family proved to be an insightful visit as well as I received some beneficial advice from my Uncle David and Ray. Both of them suggested some interesting insights that could be included in my portfolio. For example, Ray made the suggestion that the Eden Island could come in a variety of scales so as to suit an even wider market such as people in wheelchairs who wouldn’t be able to reach the top panels of the full scale variety. Even moreso, he suggested that the Island could become even more modular if several could be combined to form a larger structure.

As for my Uncle David, I discussed the matter of how the Eden Island should b priced if it were to be marketed to which he suggested comparing the prices of the different materials I had considered during my research such as PVC plastic and cedar wood. Overall the week proved to be a fullfilling one as the prototype is one step closer to completion and my portfolio has gained some beneficial insights from my family.
