Title: Great Study Tool

Review: I passed my RHIT! I only used this book to study along with my coding books for the coding section. After taking the RHIT though, I wished I had used some other source in addition to this book. I knew that these were only basic concepts to build my knowledge on and these questions won’t actually be on the test, but the RHIT was still much harder than I even anticipated. I know the 2011 copy of this book had really good ratings so if I didn’t pass the RHIT, I probably would’ve looked into buying that one as well. And as mentioned in an earlier review there are some errors on the cd. I know a few errors are expected but when you’re paying a good amount of money, you expect a little more out of it. That said, I liked the format of the cd and how it got you ready for the actual layout of the RHIT. By reviewing the book so much I was starting to memorize the answers in the order they were in. The cd did a good job of mixing up the order of the questions and placement of the answers so definitely use the cd when prepping for the RHIT! Practicing with the computer’s calculator took getting used to but I’m glad I did because it is just like when you’re taking the RHIT. Also make sure to read the introduction part because there is good information and advice in there. Other than that good luck to everyone in passing your RHIT :)

Title: 2012 Edition PRG for RHIA and RHIT Exams

Review: I used this to pass my RHIT exam. I found the advice on how to prepare very helpful. It is important to note, as with ANY resource book, the publication dates prior to purchase because the book states the exam dates it applies to, as well as the resource textbook editions that the information is based on. Then you can check that against the AHIMA exam specs, which also specify the textbook editions they are based on. You can also check with the publisher. Another thing to keep in mind is that errors in any book can be expected. I also came across the same error (fetal)that another reviewer mentioned but I relied on my textbook since I had also corrected my textbooks when I took the classes. The bottom line is that the book is not purposed for memorization because the questions are NOT on the exam. It is designed to hone your understanding and skills, which are what you WILL be tested on. Also, the tests are designed in format like the exams. I certainly would not “throw the baby out with the bath water” over one or two errors that can be checked elsewhere when doubt arises. However, note that some other reviewers used it to prep for the RHIA exam (higher level questions likely added on exam), whereas I did not rely on AHIMA updates for reasons already stated. I know for a fact that I would not have passed without this resource, although I started with the Carter exam prep book that AHIMA recommends.

Review: I noticed a lot of flaws with this book. Some of the answers are incorrect. only a few chapters has RHIT/RHIA value point break downs. The explanation is terrible. Lots of the questions rational is repeating the question and give you the answer if it even does that. The math is okay but i am ready to throw this book and the Latorre book out the window. There has to be a better alternative.

Review: I had to purchase this book for one of my classes in college. I hated the layout. It doesn’t let you study by Domain which makes it hard to study when the exams are by Domains. It uses several references that I don’t have and were not required during my courses. It doesn’t let you know which Domains you need to study unless you look up question by question that you missed to see which Domain it belongs in. I can’t get into it and this hurts my study time. I put this aside and bought the RHIT exam prep book and I’m glad I did. My quizzes and Domain exams in my RHIT Prep Class in college are largely based on the questions in that other book. Don’t waste your time on this one.
