MongoDB Monitoring Service (MMS) Open Alerts Feed Redesign
We wanted to help users coordinate and communicate better with their team members when managing database. Based on customer feedback, we wanted to introduce a new feature that will allow users to leave a comment when they acknowledge an alert.
The interaction of this project was pre-decided when I started on the project. My role was to design and code the UI. I collaborate with a back-end engineer to ship the feature.
Design
Traffic for MMS mostly comes from desktops. It was also safe to assume that most users view MMS on a desktop monitor. Thus, I wanted to leverage the space available to organize information.

Organized Content
The table layout makes it easier for users to find important information.
Scannable Layout
By using colors to differentiate the two different states—open and acknowledged—it is easier and faster for users to comprehend the situation at a glance.
Maintain Consistency
Apply existing UI patterns to maintain a clean and streamlined look.
Additional Designs
In addition to designing and coding UI of the Open Alert Feed, I also designed the Acknowledgment Modal (where users can leave comments and note down how long the acknowledgement is) and the email notification.
