Design response
Building wrapping and sleeving to create strong edges that activate the streets- has been an underlying attempt in the design of the Albany commercial centre.
Some projects have inspired and reinforced the concept of wrapping in urban development context.
The Social Experimental Housing — urban innovation project in Medellin, Columbia
This project by Nikken Sekkei that wraps an existing building with a staircase which exposes daily human acivity on to the street to creare vibrance.

Further, the blocks are developed along the Don Mckinnon drive ring road to define the street edges. The buildings are designed with gaps in between to break a huge development, keep the structures to human scale and create a comfortable experience for pedestrians.
Viewshafts are created to preserve the views to the North west part of the site.
This requires the roof of the mall to be retrofit to create visual point of the interest from the high point of the contour on Don Mckinnon drive.
The shared road sections were decided on mutually with my teammates- Mona and Easson since the ring roads are being shared on our site edges.
Ready for the presentation. … hopefully!
Quick addition: Final presentation day- turned out to be a day of great learning and inspiration.
