I like the picture you painted, but I am just a guy who likes to keep his iPhone lean with as less apps as possible, and who fiddles with javascript for a living — so what do I know.
This is the real picture I believe.
WebOS is dead. Firefox OS is dead. Chrome OS is arguably dead. Chrome App Store sucks, and it practically “stream” apps — the apps’ “core” are in mere kilobytes with actual apps hosted on a remote server. So, no, it doesn’t work. Yet. But I believe you got it right with the Spotlight search. It has so much potential to be the next placeholder before we reach “there” in a decade. Imagine pulling up the spotlight — typing Frank Underwood and seeing all of Frank’s latest updates appear there right from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Then you Force Touch to “peek” and swipe right (à la lock screen notifications) to like, comment or reply.
