There’s not much I really want, and I think it’s twofold: there’s not much that I want, so when I want something I generally buy it.

I was ultra frugal when I was finding my financial footing (I’d walk hours to save bus fare) but now I just try to ensure that whatever I buy will constantly improve my life. So things like bedding (I sleep every day) and bath towels (I shower every day) and food related (I eat every day) are things worth spending money on to be as good as they can be.

Other things don’t need that kind of optimization: I drive every day, but I don’t need to get pleasure from driving, it’s more of a functional means to an end, facilitating other activities and saving me time. Furniture helps me have friends over, but shelves do nothing for me if I have enough closets and boxes to store things in.
