Fighting against systemic racism is not the same thing as simply fighting against white people. Don’t conflate a system with a racist result with the bigotry that James is lampooning here. It’s a dishonest comparison. It won’t get anyone anywhere. Also please reexamine what you think is the reality of the shooting statistics in the US. I’ve posted this elsewhere but it bears repeating.

In 2016 according to the Washington Post 963 people were killed by the police. 48% were white. 24% Black 17% were Hispanic (who could be white or black) and the rest were other or unknown.

923 of the kills were males. That’s 96%. Of the total shootings. 2% were white females. 1% were black females. Less than 1% were Hispanic females. 46% of the people shot were white males. 23% were black males. 17% of them Hispanic males.

The biggest disparity in shootings appears to be gender, then being armed, then race. Unarmed shootings make up 5% of the whole split racially 2%/2%/1%. 48 out of 963. Of those 48, 45 were male, 3 female. Gender again.

So it’s unlikely period that someone will get killed by the police period. If you are a woman, it’s very very unlikely. Which is fine by me.

People of colour are statistically far more likely to be roughed up by police in their interactions.

But being shot has less to do with your race, than with your gender, and whether you are armed or not.

Not being armed decreases your chance of getting killed exponentially. Think about that.
