Google Manifesto Part II. The Silence.
Today there’s not a lot going on with the Google Manifesto Story.
James Damore has been fired by Google.
And the internet is kind of quiet about it. Medium doesn’t have anything on the front, or at least my front.
Gizmodo hasn’t further updated. CNN is keeping their story from yesterday up, although it’s more of an Op-Ed rather than news. The rest of the comments sections have petered out a bit, and there isn’t much new.
Here’s why. People have read it. And they know realize that the Media rearranged, and edited out the sources or charts of the original. And they realize that almost every mainstream outlet misquoted the piece almost completely. And they realize especially here on Medium that since they hadn’t read it, they had no idea what they were talking about. And they realize that Damore was more right than he was wrong.
So they are talking about something else. Whistling, and hoping no one notices.
Because they realize that they have nothing they can say that won’t make them look like morons. At least 4 experts who have actually read the piece broke it down as mostly right over at Quillette.
He gets it. They didn’t. They didn’t even try. They meaning mainstream media outlets, blogosphere blowhards, and activists of all sorts and stripes. Fail.
From Damore himself in this video : “Maybe if we want to make tech a more female friendly environment we should recognise that some women are different than men in these ways, & so if we want to make it more accessible to women, then maybe for example cooperativeness which is higher in women than men, we should make the workplace a place where you can actually thrive if you are cooperative.”
Holy shit. And what did the media and the internet recommend for this person? Fire them. Ruin them. Destroy them.
Bunch of idiots.
If you critiqued it and you didn’t address it, especially because you didn’t read it, then you are part of the problem. Full stop.
