In this time of uncertainty and unrest around the world, I ask President Trump not to turn his back on the world’s most defenseless children and families.
Miss Yousafzai you got me.
Firstly, how I think about this. I am not up in arms about the travel ban as many are. President Obama excercised the same powers and there was very very little concern voiced.
I see these bans as being part of an effort to try and secure a border and immigration and refugee situation that is frankly out of control. As such, I support this ban as much as I supported the last administration.
But, you are right. It is plain. And you have made it clear. America as a nation has talked a great deal about refugees, and immigrants. And part of America’s credibility is based on walking the walk that goes with all of that talk. There are broken chains at the feet of the Statue of Liberty.
I am not saying open the borders. I am not saying discard all caution. People who say such stupid things seem beyond all reason. But there has got to be a solution that is not completely heartless to the plight of children and families who are without a way to protect themselves in a world that is partially destabilized due to poor foreign policy decisions by the last 20 years of Western ineptitude.
So you have my vote, so to speak. In this time of uncertainty and unrest around the world, We should all ask President Trump not to turn his back on the world’s most defenseless children and families.
