A Brief Summary of All Things Apigee and API Management that I Have Written
Not so long ago, someone asked me for a list of all the Apigee and API Management related material I have written. The following was my response. The recipient suggested that I post this; so, here we go.
I laid out my version of what APIs and API Management are in the following blog posts:
- https://medium.com/@robert.broeckelmann/what-is-api-management-43008a1ddec4
I give a general description of the components and functionality of an API Management solution here:
I did two webcasts with Apigee:
- https://medium.com/@robert.broeckelmann/api-governance-in-the-enterprise-e6651a3b75db
The first one was based on my experiences building the API Management program at a Fortune 100 company. The second one is about API Governance in the Enterprise.
For Apigee Edge development examples, look at the following blog posts:
- https://medium.com/@robert.broeckelmann/apigee-edge-oauth2-and-third-party-identity-providers-48cc0eaedc3a
- https://medium.com/@robert.broeckelmann/demo-apigee-edge-oauth2-debugging-a10223eb334
The first two give concrete examples of Apigee development. Both focus on integration with third party IdPs. Obviously, there is a lot more than Apigee does.
You can create a free account on Apigee Edge Public Cloud. Note, the free (or community) edition has certain limitations including surge/spike protection, support for Java libraries, DDOS protection is not present.
Security is an important part of an API Gateway. Check out the recent webcast Level did on API Security with our new business partner Elastic Beam:

Finally, there are the Apigee guest posts that I have published.
