The answer is don’t do it. Anything that robs people of their jobs is morally bankrupt. Fuck AI. Nothing is inevitable, as some jerk wrote on here. Anything that happens is because someone wants it to happen, and that someone is usually the someone who’ll benefit most from the thing they want to happen and can afford to make it happen. The poor sods who don’t want it to happen always get screwed, nastily. Entrepreneurs are mostly an unethical bunch because they are driven by that mythical capitalistic drive to make huge amounts of money at the expense of the majority who have meagre incomes. Meagre incomes that become paltry when the ‘boss’ or the investors or the stakeholders want to maintain the luxury life they’ve become accustomed to and can no longer afford to support their employees ‘lifestyles’ choices. Most people need a jab in the arm to improve their ethical standing because it’s the one thing that will prevent that hypotheticalised meltdown against AI you implied. Earth’s population is not slowing down or diminishing, despite breakthrough’s in preventative medicine. And the arsehole who invented it wants top dollar for it, even when the people who need it are skint for cash. The entrepeneurial twat who thinks about $-signs instead or making the ‘world’ a better place, environmentally and socially, is just another Hitler. Yes, I can see myself a ‘John Connor’ in the future, and have signed my name on two ‘mission’ statements aimed at preventing AI from being used for morally bankrupt purposes. The man below who said the invention of the electric motor had only positive effects, exaggerated — he didn’t mention the fact that ‘coal & oil’ fed the appliances that liberated men and women from ‘perceived’ servitude. Climate change cannot be considered a positive benefit of the entrepreneurial spirit that didn’t foresee that burning ‘coal & oil’ would harm the planet, if not the very people relying on its health and well-being to sustain them. Some idiot is going to say, ‘Yeah, but, climate change is another opportunity to move forward or create ‘preventative’ medicine for the problems created by the short-sighted, narrow-minded, self-centred, bigoted, $-sign-Nazi-loving-Liberals.’ Yes, technology is beneficial, but how many inventors consider whether there’ll be negative effects if they invent the shiny new thing? None. Not a fucking one of them. However, if you didn’t see it, I’m an optimistic-pessimist.
