About me
My name is Robert Ndungu Njane. I am 23 years old. I hail from Murang’a county, Maragua sub-county. For the last four years, I have been a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, studying Information Technology. I love riding my bike, hiking with friends and visiting new places.
My biggest interest is technology. I have always been fascinated by tech from a very young age. While I didn’t grow up in a hi-tech setting, I was fascinated by simple things around me, such as calculators, radio, torch… I had an endless list of tech stuff I would do if I had the abilities, and the resources to build them.
I was lucky enough to go to a secondary school with a good computer lab. That is the very first time in my life I saw a computer. I remember thinking to myself the screen was the computer, and system unit was a speaker. Back then, the only thing I was looking forward to in life was the two computer lessons we had per week. I spent a lot of time dreaming of when I will have my own computer, all the things I would do with it.
When I joined the university, my dreams became true almost overnight. I got a computer of my own. I soon started spending hours writing c and c++ code. I was the go to guy on matters programming in my class. The coolest thing I did was doing a bootstrapped PHP application, and hosting it in Azure. It felt so good!
Besides coding, I was also into politics. I campaigned for a department representative seat and I was representative in 2014/2015. I was also very much into church matters. I loved attending morning mass every day.
Today, I am still fascinated by tech. I still have dreams of all the things I will build with time. I am super glad I got a chance to be in Andela boot camp, nothing would have brought me closer to my dreams than the Andela experience. I love Andela! TIA
