My experience at Andela Boot camp.
This is my fourth day of the first week in the boot camp.
When I received a congratulatory email inviting me to boot camp, I was a little worried. I was worried because I didn’t know exactly what to expect. For sure I had a general idea of how boot camp is conducted, but I didn’t have the fine details, which one needs in order to know how to prepare adequately.
But, so far so good. Looking back I see the worry was not really necessary. Not that the boot camp is easy, far from it. While boot camp is not exactly easy, the experience makes you better every day. Effectively, the journey gets easy with time, not that tasks become easier, but because you become better day by day.
It is incredible how one grows within a very short period of time. The boot camp has made me realize just how much I can grow if I dedicate myself. And the best thing is that the growth is not only technical. I have learned how to work in a team, use collaboration tools, particularly Gitter, GitHub, Pivotal Tracker, and Trello, how to write code that follows conventions and professional writing. I never thought I would ever write a blog in my life. I am very glad that I have so far published a number of blogs.
The boot camp experience for me has mostly been a learning experience. It is a learning experience like I have never had. The boot camp is very well planned, that one does not notice the pains that come with learning. The best thing about the experience is being around brilliant, determined minds, and the excellent way feedback to your work is delivered.
