I think the bottom line is that we are now at an inflection point where the addition of features such as optical zoom and portrait mode overlap significantly with what you can get using a entry-level DSLR with a kit lens. Smartphones have wiped out point-and-shoot cameras and now they are coming for the DSLR starting with those entry level models. Give it a few more years and we will see computational photography in smartphones able to produce quality shots comparable to the prosumer level DLSR/Mirrorless systems!
