Robert Berwick Checks out the MSBL this Summer

Summer is almost here, and as Robert Berwick from Greenwich Connecticut says with that comes the crack of the bat, the rustle of a cracking peanut shell, and the nostalgic feelings that come from sharing a day at the ballpark with your friends and family. Whether you are a fan of the home team, a little league coach or volunteer, or a player yourself; nothing beats the experience of watching a professional, college, or youth baseball game under the lights in your hometown.

As we can all remember from our own childhoods, kids of all ages learn America’s pastime at little league fields across the country each year, along with the teamwork, health and fitness, and communication skills that come with joining a team and sharing the highs and lows that come with it. Or, maybe you remember following the home team with your friends or family as a kid, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Avid Baseball Fan — Robert Berwick Discusses MSBL

Did you know that adults all over the country take part each year in the Men’s Senior Baseball League (MSBL)? The MSBL is the premier amateur adult baseball league in the country. It was founded in 1988 and today, it is the fastest-growing adult baseball league in the U.S., with more than 3,000 teams across the country. The MSBL hosts more than 30 regional tournaments and 6 national amateur baseball tournaments each year, including Memorial Day events in Atlanta, Las Vegas, and San Diego. Even if your playing days are done, the tournaments provide a great place to share a day at the local ballpark with your family. A schedule of upcoming tournaments and events can be found on the MSBL website.

MSBL players come in all shapes, sizes, skill sets and ages, from 18–55+, with teams broken down into 18 and over, 25 and over, 35 and over, 45 and over, and 55 and over; giving all participants a chance to show their skills. The league is staffed by professionals, with experienced local volunteers leading regional efforts. The league’s professionalism is one of the reasons it has grown so fast, as it provides a great opportunity for adults to play regular, competitive ball in a well-run environment. The league has a great communication network to keep you up-to-date as well. You can check out the Facebook and Twitter feeds to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

MSBL teams are available to join throughout the country, from Atlanta to Los Angeles; and Denver to Dallas. Many of the more established leagues are more than twenty years old. There are even teams as far away as Puerto Rico and Australia! It’s easy to find a league and a team using the search feature on the MSBL website. Or, if you are interested in starting your own league, you can contact the MSBL at

If you love baseball, are looking for a way to get active and more involved in your community or are searching for a local amateur team to cheer on in your hometown, you can’t go wrong with MSBL. Take a chance on this league you won’t regret it!
